teddy before
my name is teddy and i am a puppy mill survivor. i lived for 7 years in a kansas puppy mill, but my life really started when i was rescued by national mill dog rescue 6 months ago.
i am missing 24 teeth, so my tongue hangs out sometimes and I have a problem with my hip so I run crooked. my ears have notches out of them from some unknown injury and my nose is scarred. But, in my Mom’s eyes I’m gorgeous and I feel great!
teddy after
every day I am learning about life outside the cage. i’m learning about leashes, stairs, beds, my shadow and all sorts of things and at the ripe age of 7, i am finally learning about love!
i had been saving all this love in my heart for 7 years and now I FINALLY have someone to give it to, my mom! i was adopted into a great home with a Mom, Dad, 2 human sisters, 5 dog sisters, and 1 dog brother. there are also 5 Chihuahuas in our family and all of them are adopted from the national mill dog rescue!
now I just want to spread the word about puppy mills so everyone understands there are dogs like me all across the country living their whole lives in cages and not knowing anything about kisses, snuggling, toys, grass, being petted, what a soft bed is, or being loved. They have lots of love to give if we can just get them out of there.
maybe if I work really hard and tell people not to shop at pet stores or puppy breeders online and maybe if I work really hard to show them that you can find a great dog by adopting a senior ‘puppy mill survivor’ and maybe one person at a time, one dog at a time, I can make a difference. yep, that’s what I’m going to do. why don’t you join me?
my motto is ‘Just Do Something!’ share, educate, talk, write, discuss, advocate, protest, challenge, inspire, contribute, motivate, debate, rescue, network, donate, volunteer!
… love teddy
p.s. did you know i’m also a famous chihuahua? this is me in my famous chihuahua dog shirt!
I am only one, but still I am one. I cannot do everything, but still I can do something; and because I cannot do everything, I will not refuse to do something that I can do.
